Book fairs are held twice a year to help raise money for Media Center materials and programs, to provide reading enrichment opportunities for students and their families, and to fund improvements to the library facility. The first semester fair is usually held in December and elaborates upon winter holiday themes, while the spring fair focuses on providing children with books for summer reading. Each semester, as book fair time approaches, teachers cooperatively schedule class visits to the fair that take place during the school day. In addition, a family festival event is held one evening during each fair to enable parents to shop with their children so that they can agree together on books, software, games, crafts, activity kits, and other products for purchase. During book fairs, the Media Center continues to provide circulation services for patrons.
