KNIGHTLY NEWS
"Knightly News," Evans Elementary's morning news show, is a cooperative venture between our school's media and music programs, the school administration, and fifth-grade students and their teachers. The show is broadcast from the Media Center to classrooms by means of the school's closed-circuit television system each school day at 8:30 a.m. and features student anchorpersons who present announcements and news stories of interest to the school community. Special features of each broadcast include a pledge to the American flag, the singing of a song (usually patriotic in nature), the announcement of student birthdays, and the Current Events Quiz Kids Contest question of the day. The show serves as a vehicle not only for broadcasting school news items but also for recognizing individual student achievement at Evans Elementary.

At try-outs before the school's Media/Technology Committee in August, a team of thirteen fifth-grade students was chosen as the group of anchorpersons for this year's program. These students were selected from among a larger group of fifth-graders recommended by teachers. Two of these students at a time serve as anchors for the show for one week on a rotating basis. The other students who were recommended by teachers to participate in the try-outs are now helping Mrs. Kitchens man the camera and perform other technical responsibilities involved in producing the live broadcasts.

If you have announcements of interest to the school community that you'd like to have broadcast on "Knightly News," please submit them in writing to Ms. Summer's mailbox in the office or via her e-mail at psummer@ccboe.net by 12:00 noon the day before you'd like for them to be aired on the show. If you have questions about the show, please contact Ms. Summer at (706) 863-1202.
