| Online Classes for Students in Grades 9-12 |
Program Description |
Online learning provides another option for students to take classes they need. Some students take online courses in order to get back on track for graduation, while others may take an online course that is not available at their school. Students may also take online classes if they have a scheduling conflict at their school. Online courses are NOT "easier" than courses taken at school. Students usually find that online courses are just as challenging.
Our high school students may enroll in online courses offered through the Georgia Virtual School and the Gwinnett County Online Campus. All courses are taught by certified teachers in the state of Georgia. Students will be required to have their counselor's approval before registering for courses in either program. The registration process is completed through the school counselors and Dr. Bill Tankersley.
Students need daily access to a computer with an Internet connection outside of the regular school day. Specific technical requirements can be found on the websites for each program (see links to the left). Success in an online course is largely dependent upon the student's level of motivation, self-discipline, time management, and communication skills. Please see "is online learning for me?" to the left of this page. Your counselor can also help you decide if online learning is a good option for you.
Our goal is to provide quality online learning opportunities to Columbia County students. Please direct questions regarding online classes to Dr. Bill Tankersley via email.
Please see the description of each program below. |
