GREENBRIER HIGH SCHOOL TECHNOLOGY TIDBITS
1. Always remember that 90% of the problems a computer has can be fixed by rebooting the computer.

2. Remember to always check your computer for updates for your operating system, programs, and drivers that may be installed on your computer. Software and security updates can help take care of viruses that may attack your computer and make your computer run more efficently.

3. A good antivirus protection software is needed on your computer to prevent downloads of viruses through the internet and email system.

4. Remember that some viruses will grab your address book and send bogus emails to people. Make your first entry in your address book a bogus address such as /1323@dud.dud. Do not use a vaild email address or provider. This will stop the virus in most instances from grabbing your address book and sending the virus on to others.

5. Check to ensure that all your cables are hooked up to your computer. Lots
of times problems that you may be having are caused because some cable is not properly connected.

6. Internet access or email access may be lost for several reasons. First reboot your computer to see if this will fix your problem. Ensure that your network cable, phone line, or cable modem line is active (lights are flashing and phone is ringing and trying to make a connection) and plugged into your computer. If you still are having trouble then contact your provider for further assistance.

7. Never be scared of a computer. A computer is not there to harm you. Almost 90% of the time an error that is made can be repaired.
