| OFFICE HINTS FOR HOME USE |

Hints |
1. When using Office 2007 at home and generating a PowerPoint presentation, always remember that there are more features in Office 2007 than in Office 2002.
2. Some of the difficulties we are having here at Greenbrier High School are that students generate their presentations at home in Office 2007 and then bring them to school and try to run them on the teacher's computer which has Office 2002 and the presentations will not run.
3. You should save your presentations down to Office 2002. To do this you must do a save or save as function under the file menu. When the save or save as box appears, look for the drop down menu that says "Save as type" and change it to PowerPoint 97-2003.
4. If you save your presentation down to a different version of Office, remember that you need to go back and look at your presentation to ensure that all of your features, fonts, and pictures that you have inserted still run. When you save to a different version of Office, these features are sometimes removed.
5. Let us explain the difference between CD-R (CD-Recordable) and CD-RW (CD-Recordable/Writable). When writing a file to a CD-R, remember that the file can only be written once and no changes may be made to the file or written to the CD. When using a CD-RW, changes can be made and written to the CD. However, CD-RWs cannot be recognized on all computers. We recommend that students use CD-Rs when the presentation is complete.
6. When inserting sounds and transitions into a PowerPoint presentation, go to slide show on the toolbar to select slide transitions. This will give you the opportunity to insert sounds and transitions on an individual slide and allow you to control the length of the sound and the different types of transitions that you may require for that particular slide.
