P-R Counselor Louis Sylvester Colonel Louis A. K. Sylvester is a native of Mobile Alabama. He received his BS in Education from Spring Hill College in Mobile in 1963 and continued his education at Jacksonville State University. He earned his MS in Education from that institution in 1973. Colonel Sylvester also graduated from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in 1977.

Colonel Sylvester has office hours from 7:00 until 12:00 noon and serves students whose last names begin with P, Q, and R. He asks his students to consider what their lives will be like in ten years and asks them to think about their interests and hobbies. He also encourages his students to visit the Career Center in order to examine the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, to take a career interest inventory, and to measure unique personality traits against a career field of interest.
Colonel Sylvester believes that it does not matter whether a student becomes a physician, attorney, educator, or a commissioned officer in the military. What does matter is completing secondary and post secondary education. This is the key to success.
As he works with students, Colonel Sylvester encourages students to select electives that will support their career choices. He reminds his students to take the ACT or SAT and have scores sent to Greenbrier as well as colleges and universities of their choice. He also reminds them to send a high school transcipt. The tips that Colonel Syvester provides certainly assist in a student's quest for a successful future! |
