  • Contemporary Literary Criticism Select - Contemporary Literary Criticism Select is an extensive collection of critical essays on contemporary authors. Each CLC Select entry contains a biographical/critical introduction, listing of principal works, and sources for further study. A password is required to use this resource at school and at home.   • Discovering Collection - Discovering Collection offers easy access to award-winning content based on national curriculum standards. Covering the core curriculum areas, including history, literature, science, social studies, and more, DC provides a premium selection of reference, primary sources, creative works, and multimedia, including hours of video and audio clips. A password is required to use this resource at school and at home. Please see your teacher or the media staff for the password.

  • EBSCOhost Databases - This link will provide you with a complete list of EBSCOhost databases available to Columbia County students through GALILEO along with a description of each. Students have access to thousands of journal articles through these databases and should carefully choose which databases to use for any given topic. These databases are especially helpful for students doing in-depth research. Ask your teacher or media staff for the current GALILEO password for home use.

  • Encyclopædia Britannica Online School Edition - This powerful resource allows the user to search or browse for information in encyclopedias, magazines, videos, and web sites. You can also explore learning materials, a dictionary and thesaurus, atlases, timelines, and other features -- all at the appropriate grade level. This resource is accessible at school and at home through GALILEO. Please see your teacher or the media staff for the GALILEO password.

  • Gale E-Books - These are reference books that we have purchased in electronic format so multiple students may use them simultaneously and at home.   • GALILEO - Georgia Library Learning Online - GALILEO is an award-winning initiative of the University System of Georgia. It provides access to popular databases with full-text articles; digitized books, manuscripts, photographs, newspapers, audio, video, and other materials; selected WWW resources on all subjects; full-text books; and full-text journal and magazine articles. GALILEO is available for school and home use. Please see your teacher or the media staff for the password for home use. GALILEO is also available at the public library with even more databases than the school version. Contact the public library for their password.

  • Georgia Career Information System - GCIS provides current and accurate occupational and educational information to schools and agencies throughout Georgia in order to help young people and adults make informed career choices.   • GHS Online Catalog - Use this link while at school to check the availability of books and other materials in the GHS Media Center. GHS Online Catalog is available only at school.

  • History Reference Center - History Reference Center offers full text articles from more than 2,300 reference books, encyclopedias and non-fiction books, cover to cover full text for more than 130 leading history periodicals, more than 61,100 historical documents, 66,000 biographies of historical figures, more than 110,200 historical photos and maps, and more than 80 hours of historical video.This resource is accessible at school and at home through GALILEO.   • Literary Reference Center - Literary Reference Center (LRC) is a comprehensive literary reference database, which provides users with a broad spectrum of reference information from antiquity to the present day. LRC is a completely full-text database that combines information from over 1,000 books and monographs, major literary encyclopedias and reference works, hundreds of literary journals, and unique sources not available anywhere else. LRC contains detailed information on the most studied authors and their works and is an essential resource for public, academic and high school libraries.   • netTrekker - netTrekker, a search engine designed for schools, enhances teaching and learning by providing fast and easy access to more than 180,000 high quality, pre-screened, and educationally relevant K-12 online resources. These online resources also align with each state's academic standards and benchmarks and can be used in the classroom to stimulate instruction and learning. netTrekker is available for use at home and at school.   • SIRS Researcher - SIRS Researcher™ provides integrated online access to full-text articles and Internet resources and is especially helpful for current issues topics.   • Student Research Center Select - EBSCO's Student Research Center makes it easy for students to search by keyword or by topic to find the most useful search results. Results can be easily sorted by source type—magazines, reference books, photos, flags, etc.

  • Wilson Biography Reference Bank Select - Wilson Biography Reference Bank Select Edition contains biographical information for approximately 236,000 people, from antiquity to the present, along with thousands of images. It is an in-depth full-text biographical resource for people in the news and a full range of history-makers. It contains content from a wide variety of high quality Wilson resources: Current Biography, World Authors series, Junior Authors & Illustrators series, Nobel Prize Winners series. It also includes entries from the acclaimed references, Facts About Presidents and Speeches of the American Presidents, as well as feature profiles licensed from other respected reference publishers.
