Mrs. Carla Shelton, Principal; Mr. Greg Miller, Assistant Principal
Welcome to Harlem Middle School, home of the Bulldogs! Our school strives to create a safe, friendly environment that encourages student growth in self-esteem, self-discipline, and responsibility. The faculty and staff are personally and professionally committed to our students and parents. Teachers are passionate about helping all students succeed. The school has a culture of learning that emphasizes that all students can meet high academic expectations.

The school encourages parent involvement and strives to build solid partnerships with the school community. Harlem Middle has an active School Council, a PTO, and several booster clubs that afford parents an opportunity to participate in school-wide decisions. Parents are encouraged to get involved in one of these school organizations and assist the HMS faculty and staff in charting a course toward success. The school truly believes that “behind effective schools are supportive parents, students, and teachers.”

I sincerely hope that each student at HMS experiences much success during 2008-2009. The new school year is sure to be filled with both challenges and rewards for all students. The faculty and staff at HMS stand ready to help each student in all of his or her endeavors. Students must remember that the benefits they receive from this year are directly related to the amount of effort given to their studies. Every student is expected to demonstrate the Bulldog Work Ethic at all times.

Sincerely,

Carla F. Shelton
