Middle School Information Middle Curiculum Brochure Seven middle schools in Columbia County presently serve students in grades 6-8. The middle school concept involves the interdisciplinary team approach, which allows teachers in the core disciplines to work on a designated faculty team with regard to a specific population of students. This model promotes the delivery of instruction in a manner which facilitates an understanding of relationships between the core instructional areas of math, science, social studies, and language arts. Common planning times for core team teachers allow for discussion leading to interdisciplinary considerations as well as understandings relative to the unique learning styles of individual students.
