Pre-K Program
student at chalkboard Michele Sherman-Director

Pre-K is funded by the Georgia School Lottery program and provides pre-school classes for four year olds at fourteen of our elementary schools. Students are also served at private child care sites throughout the county.

Eligibility – To participate in the program, a student must be four years old on or before September 1st of the school year.

Registration – Registration is Feb. 22-Mar. 19 from 9:00-2:30 at the school for which the child is zoned. Bring child's certified birth certificate, child's social security card, current gas or electric bill with name and service address showing. A drawing will be held for each elementary school at the Board of Education on March 29. Results of the drawings will be posted on the school websites by 4PM on March 30. Waiting lists are maintained because slots in the elementary schools are limited. Parents interested in placing a child’s name on the waiting list should complete a Waiting List form at the school for which the child is zoned.

Calendar/Schedule – Pre-K is full day and follows the Columbia County School System calendar.

Cost – Breakfast and lunch are available for all students at regular, reduced, and free rates.

Transportation – Students attending Pre-K programs in the school system are transported by the regular school buses.

Participating Sites – Bel Air Elementary, Brookwood Elementary, Cedar Ridge Elementary, Evans Elementary, Euchee Creek Elementary, Greenbrier Elementary, Grovetown Elementary, Lewiston Elementary, Martinez Elementary, North Columbia Elementary, North Harlem Elementary, River Ridge Elementary, South Columbia Elementary, Westmont Elementary.
