Welcome! The Media Center at Lewiston Elementary is a very busy place. Students have access to more than 9,000 books, 6 computer workstations, and many reference resources.

Reading Counts Students in grades 1-5 can participate in Reading Counts, a computerized reading program which enables students to earn points by reading books and taking quizzes about what they read. Teachers conference with students to set individualized point goals. Students who meet their goals each month for the entire school year are honored at the Roaring Readers Celebration sponsored by the Media Center in May.
The Reading Counts Program at LES has recently undergone a significant upgrade. We now have access to more than 40,000 Reading Counts tests. Labeling our library books to indicate that there is now a test for that book will be a year long project. Due to the size of the file, the booklist will not be available online. |

Parent Volunteers Parent volunteers are needed to set up and help with sales during Bookfairs. With our rapidly growing student population, weekly volunteers are also needed on a regular basis to shelve books. Please contact the Media Center if you are willing to help in any of these areas. |

Recycling Project The Media Center sponsors three recycling projects. These are printer ink cartridges (all brands), cell phones (all brands), and newspaper/magazine collection. Send ink cartridges and old cell phones to the Media Center or drop in the collection bin outside the door. A bin is located behind the school for newspapers and magazines. Proceeds from these projects are used to purchase additional library books and materials. |
