| Lakeside Army JROTC was the 3rd Army JROTC established in Columbia County (1993). This dynamic elective allows students to develop their leadership, confidence,and teamwork skills on a daily basis. Organized in a military-type organization, each class period of JROTC allows students to participate as an integral unit while receiving the benefit of class and practicle work in leadership, communication skills, first aid, rifle marksmanship, citizenship, land navigation, military history, and drug & alcohol prevention awareness throughout the school year. The bottom line is to "Motivate Young People To Become Better Citizens". The Lakeside JROTC was first designated an "Honor Unit With Distinction" by the Army in 1996 and has been designated that top catagory ever since. separate and unique extra-curricular teams sponsored by the JROTC staff. These are the Exhibition Drill Team, the Color Guard, the Precision Air Rifle Team, and the Raider (Adventure Training) Team. All these teams practice after school and compete for trophies and recognition throughout the southeast. Deserving team members are able to earn school Varsity Letters JROTC students are informed about ROTC scholarship and military academy opportunities and thier experience in the program encreases their chances to recieve those college financial assistance benefits. Uniforms are worn only once a week at the school and are provided at no expense to students enrolled in JROTC.
