Fourth Grade is a thrilling year for students. We continue to build on skills previously learned and encourage student responsibility. Fourth grade provides students an opportunity to read a variety of genres. We have genre club, Scholastic Reading Counts, and literature circles. We focus on increasing reading skills and building comprehension. In Math, we continue to work on memorizing the basic facts of multiplication and division, measurement, multiplying three-digit numbers by two digit numbers, long division, comparing and ordering fractions, adding and subtracting fractions, adding and subtracting decimals, graphing and other methods of data organization. In Science, we study topics such as weather, light and sound, electricity, magnetism, astronomy, body systems, and ecosystems. In Social Studies, we study reading and understanding maps, regions of the United States, exploration, Native Americans, colonization, the Revolutionary War, and the Civil War. In fourth grade, we strive to make learning fun!
