Second grade is an exciting year. We have so many new things to learn. Our students are reading on their own and are exposed to a variety of literature. Novel sets provide for great adventures on many different levels.
We continue developing math skills through the use of manipulatives and experiences related to real life. We continue developing skills in addition, subtraction, money, time, measurement, graphing, analyzing data, geometry, fractions, and multiplication.
Science and social studies are really thrilling. We learn many concepts such as animal habitats, matter, space, and life in other cultures. We do projects and take field trips in conjunction with these areas.
Learning is enriched through classes in music, art, and physical education. Visits to the media center and computer lab enrich our curriculum.
We encourage students to be responsible citizens of our second grade community. Teachers guide the students on the way to becoming independent learners. |
