A note about snack time...

Fifth grade students are afforded the opportunity to have a morning snack daily. We encourage all students to bring a healthy snack to sustain their focus throughout the morning. Please assist us in instilling healthy eating habits by helping students make good snack choices; crackers, fruit, nuts, cheese, and yogurt are good selections.

We discourage chips, cookies, and candy at snack time. Additionally, students are encouraged to bring water bottles to school so that they can stay hydrated without leaving class to visit the water fountain. Students may fill their bottles during homeroom, and we will remind students to bring water bottles home for cleaning. Please do not send drinks other than water for consumption at snack time. To keep ants at bay, we do not allow soda, or any other sugar-laden, colored drinks.

Specific volunteer opportunities

-Parent editors in writing class (Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Roberts)
-General classroom volunteers (team)
-Science project helpers (Ms. Koffman and Mrs. Fullerton)
-Guest speakers that enhance curriculum (team)
(eg., authors, scientists, medical professionals, historians, war veterans, local leaders, mathematicians, etc.)

Please e-mail Ms. Koffman if you are interested in any of these roles, or if you have any suggestions for guest speakers that pertain to the fifth grade curriculum.
