Accelerated Reader Program

| | Students at RRE participate in a reading program called Accelerated Reader. At the beginning of the school year students take the STAR reading test to measure reading ability. A reading level is assigned to the student based on the test results, and teachers set reading goals with students based on reading level and the length of sustained silent reading time used in the classroom. From there, students choose books in the appropriate zone of proximal development. After reading each book on the appropriate level, students take computerized quizzes on comprehension, vocabulary, and/or literacy skills. Students earn points with every quiz taken, and dog tags are awarded to students for reaching reading milestones. It is amazing to watch students achieve huge strides in reading through out the school year with the use of this program. |

| | | A generous donation from the River Ridge PTO enabled the River Ridge Media Center to acquire AR Enterprise during the 2006-2007 school year. AR Enterprise opens up unlimited opportunities for students using the program by providing access to ALL of the AR quizzes created. Our students have access to over 100,000 quizzes. Students can read books from the Media Center, home, or public library and take quizzes on them at school. Students have access to the AR program from 8:00am to 4:00pm on school days. |

The link above will take you to the AR Quiz store where you can search to see if a quiz is available for a particular book. You can also check the reading levels and point levels of books. If the quiz is in the store, we have it at RRE!!! Caution: Double check the author of all books!! If a book is a classic, check to see if it has been abridged or adapted. |
