The IBC is an after school group that encourages students to read and discuss a different genre every month while promoting a love of reading for pleasure. This club is open to all grade levels. During our meetings, students will participate in a Book Talk on the book(s) they read the previous month. We will share our thoughts and feelings about the book. Of course, we enjoy some snacks as well! Then, we choose a genre for the next month!

*The book choices must be approved by Mrs. Kaigler and/or Mrs. Scott.

WHAT IS A BOOK TALK?
It is a brief presentation about a particular book(s). A successful book talk is like a successful movie preview. After a good book talk, the listener wants to read the book, just like a movie preview makes viewers want to see the movie. The ending of the book should never be revealed in a book talk- you want to leave the listener hanging. Book talks are for everyone-- Fun to hear and easy to give!

We will be incorporating the following genres into our club:
Realistic Fiction
Romance/Friendship
Thriller
Historical Fiction/non-fiction
Fantasy
Suspense/Mystery
Adventure
