Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide relevant specialized instructional services for students with disabilities and provide them with appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment. We affirm our commitment by continuing to cultivate abilities and provide resources to achieve a challenging learning environment that emphasizes improvement of student needs in the appropriate setting. We nurture, guide and motivate our students toward becoming responsible, caring and independent citizens.

Special Education Programs

In Columbia County students with disabilities receive services and supports along the continuum of educational environments ranging from the general education setting in students' home schools to full-day programs in specialized facilities. Students receive evaluations in all areas of suspected disability. Special education and related services are designed as needed and are appropriate in order to meet the unique needs of the student with a disability. The Individualized Education Program (IEP) committee determines the type and degree of needed services. Students and parents are afforded all due process procedural safeguards as outlined in the individuals with Disabilities Act, (IDE IA of 2004).
