Life Skills English is designed to develop and enhance the skills needed for efficient, functional reading and writing. Areas of concentration include extending comprehension and expanding vocabulary. The major emphasis is to improve reading skills through an interrelated approach incorporating listening, speaking, reading, writing and spelling. The reading content includes career-oriented material, current events, short stories, and other information that may help with independent living. Useful writing lessons for real world use are the main focus; some examples include writing/typing various types of letters, filling out forms, and writing complete sentences using correct grammar/punctuation.
