Please follow calendar of events carefully to avoid conflicts. Calendar is posted a year in advance.

The winter concert is December 4, 2008 for all grade levels. The concert will start at 7:00 p.m. and students should arrive no later than 6:30 p.m. The concert will last approximately one hour and will benefit Happy Tails Animal Rescue. Students should dress as follows:
6th Grade: White collared shirt, black pants/skirt, black shoes, black socks and black belts
7th Grade: CMS Band shirts, black pants/skirt, black shoes, black socks and black belts
8th Grade: White collared shirt, black pants/skirt, black shoes, black socks and CMS issued ties/cummerbunds.

No students should wear heavy make-up, earrings or other jewelry. No nail polish. Shirts should be tucked in at all times. No gum or candy. Cases should be placed in cars. This is a graded performance for all students.

December 6, 2008 is Tenth District Honor Band audition day. Your child should have a letter regarding audition times and audition information. Please ask for it if your child has signed up to audition for this band.

The seventh and eighth grade bands will be performing at Morningside Nursing Home in December as a community service project to the residents there. We will play winter and holiday music for them. We will travel by school buses and will go during the school day. Stay tuned for more information.

Students are expected to practice daily. If you see that your child is not practicing, please correct that problem. Test days will be Tuesdays and students are responsible for all music rehearsed in class.

We are planning a Fine Arts fundraiser called a "Rock-a-thon." Originally, the date for this event was October 3 but with the critical issues facing our economy and the conflict of a school-wide fundraiser, we decided to postpone this event until second semester. We appreciate all support of this event and will send home information at a later time with specific details.

We are accepting items for our backyard sanctuary. Donations of stepping stones, bird seed (need lots), plants, flowers and bird feeders would be wonderful additions to our project.

Thank you for all the support of our CMS band.
