11CP AMERICAN LITERATURE:
This course focuses on the chronological context and relevance of time periods in American literature. Critical thinking skills will develop as you learn to critically analyze selections by different authors. Expository writing is the focus for juniors as we prepare for the Georgia High School Writing Graduation Test, End of Course Test, and SAT. The goal is to write coherent and focused texts that convey a well-defined perspective and tightly-reasoned argument. Weekly vocabulary development and grammar instruction will increase your confidence in your writing abilities as you develop the skills vital to college success.

11AP LANGUAGE:
AP Language and Composition is designed to be an equivalent to the introductory year of college composition course work. Therefore, it will include a variety of assignments designed to challenge and improve your own abilities to recognize and use language as a tool. To do so, you will engage in frequent writing assignments that will address a variety of purposes and audiences. Complex critical reading will also be a crucial component of learning to employ stylistic devices and will cover a variety of periods, purposes, audiences, and rhetorical devices.
