Dr. Fowler is a native of North Carolina and received his undergraduate degree from Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs. He moved south to attend the University of South Carolina where he earned a master's degree studying mammalian pyridine dinucleotide transhydrogenase. In pursuit of his final degree he attended Clemson University where his doctoral work involved the synthesis and characterization of a photoactive lipid. Prior to becoming a teacher he served as a DNA analyst and laboratory manager at the Augusta Branch of the Georgia Crime Lab. |
