| Instructional Extention |
About the class |
| This class is designed to be a fun and exciting way to catch up and get ahead. Students assigned here will be using some of the highest tech equipment available at HMS. I use an LCD projector, teacher computer and Interwriter Bluetooth tablet for large and small group instruction. The students use personal computers for individual instruction and testing. The class is to help with CRCT scores and general understanding. The classroom rules are very simple. There are only three rules. Students must be polite to each other and to school staff. Students may not have food or drink in class. Students MUST participate. |
About grading |
| Students must attend and participate in order to earn a passing grade. Attendance is a must. As a general rule, homework will not be assigned in the Instructional Extention classes. If you have any questions, please contact me. |
About studyisland.com |
| Studyisland.com is a web-based computer program in which your child enrolled through HMS. They should have their password and username. If they wish to use this site at hame, that is GREAT. I encourage it. Feel free to peruse the site as a guest. It will not give you access to all aspects of the site, but there are sample lessons available for guests to look at. Play the games. See what your child is doing, and see how instruction has changed since you were in school. |
About me |
| I have been teaching at HMS for thirteen years. During this time I have taught social studies, language arts and mathematics. This is my second year teaching the instructional extention class. Before HMS, I spent four years teaching young servicemen to operate and maintain satellite communications equipment. I have been adjunct faculty at Augusta Technical College, teaching young and returning adults mathematics and methods classes on science and math for early childhood workers. |
