| Dr. Greer leading "B-day" |
Welcome to the Chorus/General Music webpage. Let me thank you for your participation, willingness and interest by allowing your child to become a part of what I consider to be the most exciting group here at H.M.S. From time to time you will find valuable and important information to assist you and your child as they pursue their interest in the art of music.
Course Goal and Description: It is the sole purpose of both Chorus and General Music classes to provide for each student a well rounded education by promoting excellence in both the academic as well as the fine arts. We seek to accomplish this by "kindling" the artistic "fire" within each individual student. Each week is broken down into the following exercises:
"E-day" - Eye day - Introduction, rehearsal and performance of new musical rhythms.
"M-day" - Mind day - Introduction and rehearsal of new musical concepts
"B-day" - Body day - Introduction of new movements and dance associated with any repertoire currently under rehearsal
"E-day 2" - Ear day - Introduction, rehearsal and performance of pitch recognition
"R-day" - Recital or review of learned concepts both individually and corporately.
By "kindling" these "E.M.B.E.R.S," we hope that your child will grow to love music and continue their pursuit of excellences in the are of the fine arts.
