Student Artwork
| | From August to December 2004, Riverside Elementary Art Students took a tour through the Ancient World from Egypt to Gothic, including studies of Ancient Greece, Rome, and Byzantine Art. |
| Egyptian Figure Drawings - 4th Grade | | After a discussion and viewing of Ancient Egytian Culture and Art, students prepared special "papyrus paper" and designed their own "Egyptian-Style" figure drawings. Using oil pastels, gold paint, and marker students finished their compositions. |
| | Greek Vase Oil Pastel Batiks - 3rd Grade | | After seeing examples of Classical Greek Vases, students had fun designing their own vase on tag board. They finished their vase patterns with oil pastel then painted over the entire vase with black paint. When the paint is washed away the colorful patters remain and give the vases an ancient greek look. |
| | Egyptian Cat Pastel Drawings - 1st & 2nd Grade | | After viewing Ancient Egyptian Sculpture and dicussion of the Egyptian cats, the students created their own cat design using simple shapes and a patterned frame. Metallic silver markers give the line drawing emphasis. |
| | Egyptian Pharaoh Self-Portraits in Profile - 5th Grade | | After studying facial proportions last year, students were ready for the challenge of drawing themselves in profile. They looked at Ancient Egyptian paintings of pharaohs and studied their own faces observing photographs of themsevles in profile. Using colored chalk, paint, and marker, students finished their portraits with their own personal details. |
