Class Rules and Expectations |
1. Bring your textbook and materials to class daily. YES, even on test days. 2. Be respectful of other people and their property. (Do not make fun of others in this classroom. I want everyone to feel comfortable and welcome and I’m sure you do too.) 3. Be in your seat when the bell rings, otherwise you are tardy. 4. No food, gum, or drinks in class. 5. There will be no sleeping in class, if you do not feel well see the nurse or go home. 6. Please place admit slips in the basket on my desk. I will sign and return it to you by the end of class. 7. Use appropriate language. 8. Please use common courtesy when others are speaking and in handling the property of others. (This includes school property) 9. DO NOT throw ANYTHING while in this room. 10.Follow all the rules in your student handbook concerning dress code, tardies, etc. Failure to do so will result in me contacting your parents and most likely detention.
MRS. KAAGE’s GOLDEN RULE’S EVERYONE WILL BE TREATED RESPECTFULLY AND FAIRLY AS INDIVIDUALS NOT ALL THE EXACTLY THE SAME. Student sometimes have personal needs that may cause me to modify a rule or rules. Please think before you act or speak. Please use common sense and common courtesy. Thanks Let’s have a good year!
Absences and Makeup Work Please understand that attendance is an important component of success in class. There will be some things you just can’t make up. You need to actually experience it to understand. Please check my web page or get a fellow student’s phone number, so you can find out what you missed. If you have questions or need handouts upon returning to class I will be happy to help you before or after class or during seatwork DO NOT INTERRUPT during class time. Tests or quizzes may be made up if you have an excused absence and have provided an admit. Work cannot be made up for unexcused absences. If you are in class the day before a test or when an assignment is given, you will be expected to take the test or hand in the assignment THE DAY you return to class. You have 5 days to makeup test or work unless you have been extremely ill and/or out an extended period of time.
I DO NOT TAKE LATE WORK!!! It is not fair to me or the other students in class. It is not fair to you either. Developing responsibility for your actions is an important skill for school and life. Whether your work is in your locker, in a friend’s book, in the car, etc. NO, I will not accept it after class, after school or the next day. NO I will not give you a pass to go and get it. If you are out the day a project is due, you must find a way to get it to school. Too many students simply fail to come to school the day projects are due. I will call parents of all students who fail to turn in projects. Grading I record all grades on my computer and keep all tests as proof of these grades. Your grade will consist of: 60% tests , 15% quizzes, 10% homework, and 15% in class projects and class participation. You will be responsible for providing me with proof of any disputed assignments; after all they should be in your notebook. Your semester grade is computed in this manner: 42.5% first nine weeks-42.5% second nine weeks, 15% semester exam. Each student will be provided with a more detail outline of grading procedures.
Discipline Procedure 1ST Offence Warning (Verbal or written) 2nd Offence Conference with teacher after class 3rd Offence 30-minute detention Friday after school. * 4th Offence DR and School Detention Serious offences are violations of LHS and/or CCBOE rules (see student handbook) these will result in immediate disciplinary action-referral to assistant principal. Failure to bring textbook to class 3 times will result in 30 minute Friday teacher detention 4th occurrence will result in DR. I will not change the Friday detention time to suit your schedule or convenience. If you cannot or do not want to serve detention with me on Friday, come to class prepared to meet your responsibilities, and do not disrupt the education of others.
