Study Hints for Foreign Language Students |
Pay attention in class. This will make your assignments seem easier.
In class, listen carefully and try to imitate the teacher (aloud or silently). By doing this you will improve your speech habits.
It is important that you learn and memorize ideas, not just words.
Read aloud when you are alone. By doing this, you will improve your pronunciation and language fluency.
Do your homework when it is assigned. Homework is part of the learning/practicing process.
Do your daily work and try not to cram at the last minute for a quiz, test, or any other classroom performance.
Build on what you already know. As you continue acquiring a second language, you have to know what you learned the day before, the week before, the month before.

My Goals and Expectations |
My goals for students in Spanish I and II are: 1. to develop a love of language and foreign culture. 2. to prepare students to use language for meaningful communication in the real world. 3. to balance grammar study with oral and written proficiency-based language experiences.
In order to achieve the above, I expect my students to: 1. Come to class prepared and be ready to participate in every class activity. 2. Do the assigned homework on a daily basis. 3. Use the Spanish Language to communicate in class and elsewhere. 4. Try their best.

My Biography |
I was born in Veracruz, Mexico. I learned English in a Commercial Academy in Veracruz. I came to the U.S in 1984 and studied English some more. I then obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a major in Accounting from the City University of New York, and in 2001 a Bachelor of Arts, with a major in Spanish/Education from Augusta State University. My love and passion for teaching surged when my two sons entered school and I volunteered to teach some Spanish to kindergarteners. After realizing that education was my passion, I decided to go back to school to become an educator. After taking three and a half years to finish my second bachelor degree, the ardous work of being a mother, a wife, and a student finally paid off! I became a Georgia Certified Educator in 2002. This is my sixth year at Greenbrier High School and I am as enthusiastic about teaching my high school students as I was when I first taught the little 5 year olds in an elementary school years ago. I made the right decision about going back to school. I love teaching! |
