Working safely in the lab is the number one priority. Because of this, Greenbrier High School has adopted a department-wide dress code. The details of this are as follows:
1. You must wear pants during a lab. NO capris. 2. Only tennis shoes and boots will be acceptable footwear. NO OTHER SHOES WILL BE ALLOWED. ALL tennis shoes MUST have a fully enclosed heel. 3. Hair must be pulled back if longer than your chin. 4. Aprons and goggles are required for all labs involving flames, heat, and chemicals, OR at the teacher's discretion.
Failure to comply with this dress code will result in the following: You will be asked to sit down and a zero will be marked in the gradebook for that lab. You will be given an opportunity to make up the lab with a 20-point deduction. The lab must be made up in a timely manner. Please speak to me about this make-up. Some labs cannot be made up because of the materials used.
Remember that these rules are in place to protect YOU! |
| Make-up work (Chemistry and Biology) |
|
1. If you are absent from class you are still responsible for all the work that is missed. A request for make-up work should be completed and turned in with your readmit slip when you return to school. (REMEMBER: you only have 2 days to bring in a note for your absence.) 2. Make-up work from an excused absence MUST be completed within 5 days. 3. If you are absent the day before a test (review day), you are still expected to take the test on the day you return. Make-up tests are different from the test given on test day, and may include numerous essay questions. 4. Any assignment that is not turned in when called for will be considered LATE and will have a 20-point deduction penalty. Homework assignments must be turned in NO LATER THAN 1 DAY after the due date to receive credit.

This course has a mandatory state End-of-Course Test. It will be given in May and administered during the regular school day. It will take the place of the second semester exam and the score will become a part of each student's permanent school recod. |
