Greetings and Welcome to Greenbrier High School. It is a privilege to work in a commuity with tremendous parental support for the goals we strive to accomplish. Today, more then ever before, the need for collaborative efforts to prepare students to face the challenges that lie ahead is paramount.

I have been teaching in Columbia County for twenty-six years. Prior to coming to Greenbrier High I taught at Evans High School for eighteen years. I consider it a great honor to have taught many of the colleagues with whom I now work and the parents of students I currently teach. This particular phenomena indicates that teachers, parents, and students alike gravitate toward environments that are nuturing, encouraging and rewarding. Columbia County is a great place to learn, work, and grow. I appreciate the opportunity to work with your child as we collectively strive for educational excellence.

Economics: Perhaps the greatest preoccupation of life, and one of the least understood is the study of economics. Economics is the study of how individuals and societies use limited resources to address never ending needs. Throughout the course there is emphasis on individual goals (short-term, intermediate, and long-term) to asses our abilities to define reasonable and attainable goals given our personal resources, strengths, and liabilities or limitations. In addition to the conventional individual assesments, there are many opportunities to test one's ability to lead, follow and demonstrate the ability to become a strategist for the enhancement of the team. Emphasis on current economic conditions, how they affect our lives and what we as productive citizens can do to influence a healthy economy is discussed. Students frequently refer to newpapers and magazines to test the application of the topics and skills we have discussed in class.

Students should take advantage of the links provided for the Economics End-of-Course Test. All students are required to take this test at the end of the course. The study guide provides a comprehensive review of the objectives covered on the test.
