Geometry A

Geometry B
|
| Students begin their exploration of the visual World of Geometry. We start with the basic elements of Geometry (segments, angles, and relationships). Important tools of reasoning follows to provide a foundation for two-column proofs. Thirdly, the students will discover the properties of parallel and perpendicular lines followed by an indepth look into congruent triangles. We end Geometry A with a unit on properties of triangles and a unit on quadrilaterals and other polygons. |
Students continue their World of Geometry exploration building upon the foundation established in Geometry A. We begin with similar triangles and polygons. Secondly, the properties of general, similar, and special right triangles are introduced as well as applications of right triangles (trigonometry). We then cover circles and their properties followed by finding the areas of polygons and circles. We end Geometry B with a unit on surface area and volume of solids and a unit on Tessellations. |
