Columbia County Transportation Facts: |
The Columbia County School System provides transportation services to 29 schools, and to nearly 11,000 students twice a day. Our fleet of 200 school buses is meticulously maintained in order to safely support 155 regular and special education routes driven each day, and the 2500 school activity and field trips supported each year. Our buses are operated by a professional and well-trained staff of 168 bus drivers, 18 full-time bus assistants, 35 special education aides, and 5 bus monitors. During the 2003 - 2004 school season, our drivers and buses safely transported 3.7 million students over 2.2 million miles to and from school and school activities (an average 13,325 miles daily). Our staff is proud of its past achievements, and look forward to a new season serving our county schools and students in a professional, safe manner.
