Columbia County Transportation Facts: |
The Columbia County School System provides transportation services to 31 schools, and to more than 14,000 students twice a day. Our fleet of approximately 179 school buses is meticulously maintained in order to safely support 143 regular and 36 special education routes driven each day, and the 2500 school activity and field trips supported each year. Our buses are operated by a professional and well-trained staff of 179 bus drivers, 18 full-time bus assistants, 36 special education aides, and 5 bus monitors. During the 2008 - 2009 school season, our drivers and buses safely transported 3.7 million students over 2.2 million miles to and from school and school activities (an average 13,325 miles daily). Our staff is proud of its past achievements, and look forward to a new season serving our county schools and students in a professional, safe manner.
