| First grade at Westmont Elementary is a very busy place. These students have much to accomplish during the school year. The main academic goals focus on learning how to read and learning basic addition and subtraction facts. This requires quite a bit of extra study time as parents help foster this learning by reading to their child, listening to their child read orally, and helping their child study math facts. The students in first grade participate in a block scheduling model where they change classes for science and social studies. They also produce a wonderful spring play for the enjoyment of the school community. |
