| Third grade is a step upwards in all areas of the curriculum. Students are reading more difficult material and asked to look in-depth at the material for higher level comprehension. The main academic goals in mathematics are multiplication with facts through 10, addition and subtraction of larger numbers that require regrouping, time, and money. Social studies revolves around government with the inclusion of map skills. The study of the state of Georgia helps to teach many social studies objectives. Students have the opportunity to explore many new concepts in the area of science such as simple machines, life cycles of plants and animals, and nutrition. The most anticipated skill of all is cursive handwriting. This is taught throughout the school year. |
