Student and Parent or Guardian Collective Responsibility Agreement

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians:

The Columbia County School District (CCSD) exists to empower and inspire students to excel in a safe, healthy school environment. The CCSD is dedicated to implementing safety precautions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 for our community, with the health and safety of our students and school employees as our top priority.  Our goal is to establish healthy and safe routines and procedures, limit outside exposure, and have response protocols in place to reduce and respond to the transmission of the virus.  Now we are asking that you join us in this commitment to keep our community healthy. By following these precautions together, we can reduce the chance of transmission and, therefore, keep students, faculty and staff on campus for as long as possible.

As school district personnel, we pledge to abide by the safety precautions set forth in the Return to School Plan and commit to the following measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19:

  • Stay home when we are sick.
  • Report possible contact with infected individuals and positive test results.
  • Social distance and avoid large group gatherings.
  • Wear masks when social distancing is not possible.
  • Teach and practice good hygiene habits, such as washing hands and using sanitizer.
  • Frequently clean classrooms and common areas.
  • Utilize scheduling options to reduce the number of students coming in close contact with each other throughout the day.
  • Limit large group gatherings and cancel off-campus field trips unless approved by administration.
  • Limit visitors to the office area.
  • Honor the confidentiality of our colleagues, students, and peers when they become ill from COVID-19.
  • Welcome students or staff back without exclusion following an illness.
  • Encourage each other, particularly our essential employees who are taking on the challenge of meeting the needs of our students during the pandemic.

Students, parents and guardians play a vital role in our school community.  We are asking you to commit to the Collective Responsibility Agreement below, indicating your willingness to join with us to keep our students, faculty, and staff healthy.

Student and Parent or Guardian Collective Responsibility Agreement

As a student and a parent or guardian of a student, we understand that participation in school activities within the CCSD during the COVID-19 pandemic presents certain risks beyond control of the district, even though the district exercises the utmost care in trying to prevent anyone from getting sick.  To show our support and to help the community reduce the chance of transmission, we commit to the following measures to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19:

  • Stay home when we are sick.
  • Monitor daily symptoms of COVID-19 such as:
  • Fever over 100 F
  • Chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Report positive test results or possible contact with infected individuals.
  • Practice social distancing and avoid large group gatherings.
  • Wear masks when social distancing is not possible, if not for ourselves, for our teachers and fellow students who may be more vulnerable.
  • Practice good hygiene habits, such as washing hands and using sanitizer.
  • Honor the confidentiality of staff and students when they become ill from COVID-19.
  • Treat those who are returning from illness with respect.
  • Encourage essential employees who are taking on the challenge of meeting the needs of our students during the pandemic.

Finally, we must all recognize the importance of flexibility and embrace change during this world-wide crisis.  We must be diligent to comply with safety precautions and protect those who are most vulnerable.  We must work together to ensure teacher and student well-being and learning continuity.

Together we are stronger!
