The Columbia County Board of Education met at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the Columbia County Board of Education. The following Board of Education members were present: 

Mr. David Dekle, Chairman
Mr. Philip Kent, Vice-Chairman
Ms. Katie Allen, Board Member
Ms. Judy Teasley, Board Member

Ms. Kristi Baker, Board Member, was not present

The following items were acted upon by the Board of Education Members:

Grace Baptist Church Pastor Bill Hilley gave the invocation

Brookwood Elementary and Westmont Elementary 4-H Presidents led the Pledge of Allegiance

Approval of Agenda

Approval of Special Recommendations for Assistant Principal positions at Cedar Ridge Elementary School, Grovetown High School, Harlem High School, and Lakeside High School

Approval of Consent Items 7 a-f

FY2027 Budget Presentation and Public Input; There were 3 members of the public who addressed the Board during public input

Approval of Board Policy JN, Awards and Scholarships

Board Policy BCBI, Public Participation in Board Meetings

Approval of bid results for ice cream products, multipurpose copy paper, network switches, and bulk purchase of Chromebooks  

There were 3 members of the public who addressed the Board during public participation on foreign language resources, current events and budget, and classroom school supplies

Approval for Chairman Dekle to Sign Open Meetings Law Affidavit

Approval of Re-Contracting for greater than 190-day employees for the 2026-2027 school year

Approval of Personnel Recommendations
