In response to the Coronavirus threat and the shutdown of schools, the Columbia County School District is extending the deadline for Pre-K registration. Online-only registration during the extended window will take place beginning at 8:00 a.m., Monday, March 30 until 4:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2020.
This extended deadline is for parents who did not register before the shutdown. Parents who have already completed the registration packets at their zoned school and received a drawing ID number do not need to register online.
After registering, each child will be assigned a unique Pre-K drawing ID number that will be used during the drawing on Friday, April 3, 2020. Results for each school’s drawing will be posted on school websites by 4:00 p.m., Friday, April 3, 2020.
Should an online registrant be selected in the lottery drawing, the child’s legal parent or guardian must provide required documentation that is to be verified in person when schools reopen or on or before the beginning of the new school year. Failure to provide hard copy documents on or before the beginning of the new school year could put a child at risk of being removed from the program. Required documentation includes the original birth certificate and Social Security card for each child. In addition, two proofs of residency will also be required by the legal parent or guardian.
The Columbia County School District’s Pre-K program is sponsored by the State of Georgia’s Lottery Funds. Children eligible to participate in the Pre-K Registration process must reside in one of the following 8 elementary school zones that have a Pre-K program:
Baker Place Elementary
Euchee Creek Elementary
North Columbia Elementary
North Harlem Elementary
South Columbia Elementary
