Preston Blanchard Outstanding Partner Award

The annual Partners in Education Breakfast is held each year to recognize and show our appreciation for our dedicated Partners in Education.

Special thanks to our valued Partners at Brandon Wilde for hosting this important appreciation breakfast.

Since 2008, the Preston Blanchard Outstanding Partner Award is given each year to a partner in education who is a tremendous supporter and a champion of the district. A partner that goes above and beyond in service and one that has created a legacy within the district.

About Preston Blanchard

Preston K. Blanchard was a native and lifelong resident of Grovetown. Mr. Blanchard came from a family of educators. He was born and raised looking to his father as the Superintendent, Mr. John Pierce Blanchard Sr. Mr. Preston Blanchard was a Harlem High and Georgia Southern University graduate. He was also a faithful member of Kiokee Baptist Church. He owned and operated Carter-Blanchard Office Supply, Inc. from 1980 to 2008 and was formerly the Editor and Publisher of The Columbia News & Times also known as the Columbia County News-Times. He was a family man with a loving wife and two children.

Mr. Blanchard believed in the value of public education and in providing for each and every student, no matter the student’s background or circumstances. He provided decades of sustaining service to the district through his work with the News-Times and Carter-Blanchard Office Supply. Whether it was physical materials for students and schools, financial contributions, or volunteering his time and energy with students after school, he was a constant source of inspiration for the district. Mr. Blanchard set a standard for supporting the district and modeled this throughout his lifetime. So much so, that his legacy continues today. The Columbia County School District aims to honor Mr. Blanchard through the presentation of this award.

Nothing Bundt Cakes has truly made a mark on the district over the last several years. But as time goes on, the involvement continues to grow.

Nothing Bundt Cake, and owner Susan See, always finds a way to “bring the joy” to anyone in the community. It is evident that they have a true passion for serving students and the school community.

Here are a few ways Nothing Bundt Cakes has served the Columbia County School District:

  • They host multiple work-based learning students throughout the year and have been a member of the CTAE Advisory Committee since 2020
  • They volunteered as judges for the CTAE workforce showcase and gave each of our three high school culinary programs $100 towards the materials of the competition
  • They host multiple fundraisers throughout the year for our schools and have visited every school in the district to deliver back to school bundts
  • And they have championed a youth reading program called “Books and Bundts” encouraging our elementary students to read

Congratulations, to Nothing Bundt Cakes and Susan See, winners of the Preston Blanchard Outstanding Partner for the 2022-2023 school year.

We appreciate all that you do for our district.
