PSAT/NMSQT

The Preliminary SAT National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is offered to all CCSD 10th grade students. Content on the PSAT/NMSQT is very similar to the SAT, with reading and writing and math sections. In addition, 9th and 11th grade students are afforded the opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT for a fee.

Students in 11th grade who take the PSAT/NMSQT and meet other program entry requirements specified in the PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide will enter the National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).

The PSAT/NMSQT is divided into two parts, reading and writing and math. The time allotted for each section is 60 minutes, for a total of two hours on the testing day. The reading and writing and math sections of the digital PSAT/NMSQT are designed to measure success with building critical college and career readiness knowledge in literacy and math.

The PSAT/NMSQT is available for any home study student who resides in the Columbia County School District. Please contact the high school where the student is zoned for registration and testing information, and please refer to the District Assessment Calendar for assessment dates. Registration must be completed through the high school where the student is zoned and is due at the end of September each year.
